The COVID-19 Hacker’s Mindset

For over a year, we have been an active participant to the ECHO Cybersecurity Network, by contributing with the knowledge and expertise of our Cybersecurity professionals.  ECHO stands for “European Network of Cybersecurity centers and competence Hub for Innovation and Operations,” and it is one of four pilot projects, launched by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 project, that aims to establish and manage a Cybersecurity Competence Network.

Monitoring the cybersecurity landscape and the increase of COVID-19 related cybercrime, we have identified that this pandemic offers cyber attackers unique opportunities to leverage existing tactics and procedures, created by a massive increase of employees working from home, children using home computers for schooling, as well as the human factor and emotions caused by the pandemic. This white paper gives an overview of a number of these; however, the list is not exhaustive and constantly evolving.

We believe that by publishing and distributing essential COVID-19 specific cyber awareness messages for the general public in an understandable manner, we can help people and companies to take the necessary measures in limiting cyberattacks during these challenging times. Read the document below to find out what are ECHO network’s hands-on guidance and solutions to tackle the COVID-19 cybersecurity threats.
